MAC Haul: Are you a Betty, or Veronica?

Hi lovies!

This is my first time posting a makeup haul & I'm really excited, because I've got some treats from MAC's Archie's Girls & Year of the Snake collections.  Just a fair warning, this will be a long, picture heavy post!

I'm going to start of with the Year of the Snake collection since I only got one item from that.

Um, this is absoloutly gorgeous!  The packaging, the design on the powder & just the product itself.  You'll be able to see the beautiful shimmer it has later on in this post.  This baby retails at $24, but it's so worth it.  I can't wait to use this as a highlighter or maybe even an eye shadow or on my lips.  LOVE.  I might want to pick up a second for backup!

OK, now on to Archie's girls!!

What MAC has to say about the collection:
"The ravishing rivals for Archie's affection inspire a color collection celebrating their iconic personas.  Smolder in deep & seductive tone inspired by spoiled rich girl Veronica, or beam like a blond-next-door Betty in soft & innocent shades for eyes & face.  So gorgeous in exclusively designed packaging."

When I first read this line was launching I wasn't too excited about it, I never read the comics & had no idea of the background of it all & to be honest I don't really need any more makeup let alone reds, purples & pinks.  But of course, the propaganda got to me & as I was more & more exposed to swatches & sneak peeks of the lippies & blushes, I knew there were some things I HAD to have (read: really badly want, but don't need at all!)

First up are the blushes:

They each come in this super cute packaging with the respective girl the shade is
meant to represent.

Betty's Cream Soda is a gorgeous nude coral shade with a satin finish.  I've never used such a light blush, but I'm thinking this will be perfect as a summer shade, not too overbearing, but brings some life to the face.

Veronica's Prom Princess is another gorgeous satin finish blush with a "mid-tone pink berry" color.  I am in LOVE with this blush.  I've never used a purple tone blush before, but it looks so pretty on my skin tone.

Prom Princess is super pigmented, while Cream Soda is very faint.  On the right is the swatch I promised you of Shell Pear bp.  I love the shine it leaves my skin with.  I have a feeling this & cream Soda are going to be my summer staples.

On to the lippies!

Just like the blushes, AG lipsticks come in packaging with the face of their respective rival.

Betty's line of lipsticks is loaded with bright & playful colors fit for that "girl next door" look.  Including Oh, oh, oh which I did not purchase.  It just didn't wow me.

Girl Next Door is such a beautiful blue-pink color in the tube & on the lips as well.  It has a luster finish which I think works really well for this shade, but I hate how it looks wet & goopy between my lips & accentuate fine lines.  I would prefer this with a liner under much better just to fill in fine lines & dry it up a bit.  With a finish like this, there won't be a whole lot of staying power if worn alone either.

Betty Bright is absolutely stunning & it will look amazing on a variety of skin tones.  It's a bright light peach color (photographed a little on the pink side) & reminded me a lot of Vegas Volt in the tube, but it isn't quite as orange when worn.  This has a satin finish (one of my faves)  so it'll last a lot longer than a luster finish.  Still though, I always recommend wearing a liner underneath, it just helps the color to last.

Veronica's luscious lippies are packed with deep, sultry shades of purple & red .  Two of my favorite colors to rock on my pout.

Daddy's little Girl is another favorite of mine with it's pinkey-violet tone.  Also a satin finish, this shade can bring some color & drama to any look you pair it with.

Ronnie Red, Ronnie Red.  Every time I think I have too many red lipsticks, MAC comes out with something like this!  This blue-red shade is sure to look gorgeous on anyone & with it's matte finish it will last well into your day with just minor touch-ups.  THIS is my absolute favorite lipstick from this collection.  I just such a sucker for red lips!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post.  Those of you who stuck around to read this things lol.  Let me know if you'd like to see some more posts like this in the future.  There's quite a few collections coming soon that I just can't wait to get my hands on!

  2. I'm still on the fence on this collection. I wanted to go check it out but we got hit by a snow storm and roads are hazardous so I didn't think it was worth the risk. I probably will go tomorrow. Hopefully, nothing sold out too fast. Otherwise, that's ok. I might get something from the Year of the Snake collection...just because I was born under the snake year, LOL.
